About Me

Hello! 你好! Здравствуйте! ¡Hola! Allillanchu! Сайн байна уу! Сәлем!

I am a cultural anthropologist from the northern rim of the Chihuahuan desert who loves to travel and observe how society and culture shape the foundations of human interaction and perceptions.

I have an inordinate fondness for Central and East Asian cultures, coupled with an unbridled enthusiasm for indigenous languages and cultures in North and South America.

I have full linguistic proficiency in Chinese and Russian and have a working knowledge of Spanish, Quechua and Mongolian. I am interested in how cultures coexist along border regions and how to apply anthropological theory and ethnographic approaches to resolve cultural and socio-economic conflicts.

A picture of me masked and dressed to dance for the Festival del Virgen Carmen in Cuzco, Perú.

All in all, I created this blog because I want to understand humanity better and how society and culture work alongside and against each other.

Cheers and happy reading!
